Lindwood Earl Darden

Linwood Earl Darden, 57 of 106 County Road, Mount Olive, succumbed to the silent halls of death Friday in the Sampson Regional Hospital in Clinton. Mr. Darden's funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, 2591 Beautancus Road, Mount Olive, with the Rev. Braxton Frederick officiating. His mortal frame will be laid to rest at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 US Hwy. 117 S. He was preceded in death by his parents, David John Darden Sr. and Nina Pearl Cox Darden; siblings Tronnie Darden and Bobby Darden. Linwood will lovingly be remembered by his devoted wife of 40 years, Vickie Robinson Darden of the home; four wonderful children, Veronica Holmes (Dennis) of Mount Olive, Linwood E. Darden Jr., and Shcharansky Darden (Nicole) of Atlanta, Ga. and Jai Kornegay (Sennecca) of Goldsboro; his siblings, David Darden Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Nina Teresa Taylor (Donald) of Goldsboro, Stephanie Darden of Charlotte, and Treda D. Dunn (Darryl) of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will assemble at the residence one hour prior to the service in preparation for the funeral procession. The Darden family is being served by the Rev. Ernie Haskins, funeral director, Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.
